Peter Pan Park – Emporia, KS – Huge flakes are falling across the area this evening, but it’s has a fragility about it. It’s soft and wet, enough to nurture the new life but not cold enough to do harm.
The first ladybug of Spring popped into the picture when I stopped along a Cowley County, Kansas country road to photograph henbit.

The sun is warming the new blossoms in our front yard. It’s too pretty to work through spring break so I’m taking a bit of vacation time, studying the first bee to visit. It’s a miraculous event, this parade of emerging new life before us.
Off Highway 99, near Admire, Kansas (if I remember right)
Marion County, Kansas – Rose Verbena is found in the eastern third of Kansas, and is blooming now and through June. You’ll often find it in this kind of habitat – rocky, well-drained soil.
